WhatsApp released a new feature designed to help groups plan stuff better. The new tool lets you create and manage events within your group without getting other tools for that. This includes scheduling meetings, get-togethers/reunions among other activities.

According to the Meta-owned service, the event-planning tool helps avoid potential confusion when planning activities involving multiple people. WhatsApp announced the feature on its social media pages after spending some time testing it among a small group of users.

The tool is now available for all users globally on Android and iOS. Using the event tool is very easy. Here’s how to create an event in a WhatsApp group:

Open the Group Chat: First, go to the group chat where you want to plan your event.

Start Creating the Event: In the chat, find the paperclip icon next to the typing area. Tap it to see a menu of options for attaching things.

Choose “Event”: In the menu, select “Event.” This will take you to the event creation screen.

The tool is quite easy to use and blends in well with the app’s general interface. You can even get to add call links directly to the events in case it is a virtual meeting.

This is already a feature that has been available in other messaging and community apps like Telegram and Discord. So you might say that they were probably the inspiration for this.
