Zimbabwe's leading mobile money platform, EcoCash, has introduced a groundbreaking new feature called the 'EcoCash Home Wallet'. This innovative service aims to provide Zimbabweans living abroad with a seamless and convenient way to manage their home finances.

The key functionality of the EcoCash Home Wallet allows diaspora users to conduct a wide range of transactions in Zimbabwe, including paying utility bills, school fees, insurance premiums, and hospital bills, sending money and purchasing airtime for their friends and family. This service empowers Zimbabweans overseas to stay connected and actively participate in supporting their loved ones and communities back home.

"The service is convenient, reliable and accessible to all customers through our app, giving users and breadwinners direct control over how they use their money in supporting those back home," expressed Munyaradzi Nhamo, the EcoCash Managing Director, during the launch event held in the United Kingdom at the annual Zimbabwean music, food and family festival.

Nhamo emphasized EcoCash's commitment to continuous innovation and delivering the best possible experience for its customers. "This new feature will give Zimbabweans from around the world access to convenient transactions for goods and services back home," he added, underscoring the company's dedication to meeting the evolving needs of its diverse user base.

To register for the EcoCash Home Wallet, users simply need to download the new EcoCash mobile application from the App Store or Google Play Store, and provide a few key details such as a foreign mobile number and email address. Once registered, customers can seamlessly fund their Home Wallet through integrated remittance services, conduct real-time global money transfers, and receive payments from other users on the platform.

The introduction of the EcoCash Home Wallet service comes at a crucial time, as diaspora remittances play an increasingly vital role in providing much-needed liquidity to Zimbabwe's economy. According to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, these remittances through official channels saw a remarkable 16% increase in the previous year, rising from $1.617 billion to $1.873 billion.

"We are working tirelessly to be customer-centric and afford our customers the convenience they deserve," Nhamo affirmed, underscoring EcoCash's unwavering commitment to enhancing the financial empowerment and well-being of Zimbabweans both at home and abroad.

With the launch of the EcoCash Home Wallet, the company has taken a significant stride in bridging the transactional gap between the diaspora and local communities, empowering Zimbabweans worldwide to stay connected and actively contribute to the development of their homeland.
