NetOne has launched its new Reverse Calling feature, allowing users to make calls without any airtime by transferring the cost to the recipient. This service aims to bridge the gap for individuals who find themselves without credit but still need to connect urgently.

How It Works

Consumers can initiate a Reverse Call by dialing the recipient’s number followed by the code 164. For instance, to reach a phone number like 0717xxxxxx, users would dial 1640717xxxxxx. This not only connects the call but also informs the recipient that they will be responsible for the call charges.

In cases where users have zero balance, they can still attempt a Zero Balance Call. Simply following the same initiation method allows the recipient to accept the charges, ensuring continuity in communication even in emergencies.

Understanding Charges

One key aspect to note is the charging mechanism. While the caller must initiate the call from an active account, the cost will be absorbed by the recipient. This structure aims to facilitate communication in situations where users may not have the means to pay for their calls.

Experts suggest that the introduction of Reverse Calling holds numerous benefits:

  • Convenience: Users can remain connected without worrying about airtime availability.
  • Emergency Communication: The feature proves invaluable during urgent situations, allowing individuals to reach out to important contacts without delay.
  • Flexible Options: The availability of both direct and zero-balance call options provides users with versatile communication pathways.

NetOne’s Reverse Calling feature represents a significant step toward improving access to communication services in Zimbabwe. As users look for more flexible options, this service could transform the way people stay connected.
